One of several grand Victorian-era homes preserved in St. Joseph, the principal city in the northwest corner of Missouri. Named for both biblical and more recent historical figures — Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary and Joseph Robidoux, the community's founder — St. Joseph is best known as the starting point for the Pony Express network of horse-mounted riders who delivered mail throughout the West briefly in the 1860s.
