View of downtown Jacksonville,
Florida, along the St. Johns River that separates several neighborhoods in the far northeast part of the state. The focus is on an old, rusted railroad lift bridge near the 1991 replacement bridge for the original 1924 St. Elmo W. Acosta vehicular bridge, named for a local councilman. Much of the scene reflects the city’s modernity; the old bridge does not. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2020.
