Scottsbluff, NE - Midwest Theater

The Moderne-style Midwest Theater opened in Scottsbluff, the principal city in the southwest corner of Nebraska, as a movie theater in 1946. It is now (as of 2022) a live-event and cinema venue. Scottsbluff and its surrounding county are named for Scotts Bluff, a sandstone landmark southwest of town that was an important landmark for westward-bound emigrants who had just crossed hundreds of miles of open plains and low sandhills on the Oregon Trail.
