Few could miss this display outside Fox Cave (once said to be a hideout for the famous outlaw “Billy the Kid” Bonney) in Ruidoso, New Mexico. The very real, and deep, cave that had long been a cooling refuge for residents and visitors high above the often baking-hot southeast New Mexico desert, became a quirky roadside tourist attraction in the 1950s.
