It's mid-winter, but a beautiful day — a perfect opportunity for this fisherman to try his luck on a stretch of the Rio Grande River near the town of Pilar in northern New Mexico, closer to its source in the southern Rocky Mountains (even farther north in Colorado) than to its more famous 889-mile-long portion, far to the south, that forms the border between Mexico and the U.S. state of Texas.
