A young mountain sheep warily surveys the surroundings in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, near Medora, in far-southwestern North Dakota. The park is named after the the United States' 28th president, an avid outdoorsman who spent a great deal of time in these parts and eventually led the drive to create what is now the nation's vast national park system.
