The Northern Pacific Railroad Depot in Fargo, North Dakota, the state's largest city, on its eastern border with Minnesota. Completed in 1898, the building — no longer a train station but now (as of 2021) housing the offices of the city's park district, is considered one of the finest examples of the work of renowned architect Cass Gilbert, best known for his designs of the Woolworth Building in New York City and Minnesota Capitol in Saint Paul. Gilbert also designed several other train stations throughout the nation's Great Plains and Northwest. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2021.
