When the Meadow Gold building in Tulsa
was sold in 2004, its vintage sign was also sold. The new owner planned to demolish both the building and the sign; however, through the efforts of the National Park Service Route 66 Corridor Program, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Tulsa Foundation for Architecture, and the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, the sign was saved. After several years of additional fund raising, the sign is now fully restored. Photo by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
