Manassas National Battlefield, VA - Hillwood Mansion Remains
A chimney is about all that remains of the pre-Civil War Hillwood mansion on the grounds of the Bull Run Winery close to the Manassas National Battlefield Park outside Manassas, VIrginia. The house surrounding the chimney was not destroyed in either of two Battles of Manassas (as the Union called them) or Battles of Bull Run in Confederate nomenclature, but it’s thought that it burned to the ground in the years shortly after the Confederate surrender in 1865.
