St. Louis, MO - Granada Theater, 1988

The Granada Theatre, located at 4519 Gravois Avenue in Louis, Missouri
opened on September 29, 1927 showing “Beau Geste”, starring Ronald Colman. Designed in the Spanish Baroque style, it featured a beautiful overhanging balcony and 1,585 people. It was operated by the Arthur Brothers/St. Louis Amusement Company Chain and mostly ran second run movies until the demise of the Arthur Theatre Chain.

Located in the densely populated Bevo neighborhood, locals remained faithful to the theatre until it closed June 19, 1986. Later, part of the roof and back wall gave way during a storm. As the cost of repairs were too high, the theatre was razed in December 1992 despite efforts to save it.
