The Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community “worship space” in a neighborhood adjacent to Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, the capital city of the southwest U.S. state of New Mexico. Like many other U.S. faith communities, this one downplays the word “church” to describe its worship building, preferring to note that the people of the congregation are its “church.” Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2020.
