The Santo Niño de Atocha Chapel, built in 1857 in Chimayó, a New Mexico village on the "High Road" through the Sangre de Cristo mountains to and from the capital city of Santa Fe and the art and shopping mecca of Taos. Chimayó's plazas contain several religious sites, including this one, which originated as a private family chapel until it was acquired by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in 1992 and renovated as a children's chapel dedicated to serve in the model of the good works Santo Niño — the Christ Child — as a young boy.
