The old West Point Rice Mill in Charleston
, South Carolina
. A replacement for a mill that burned, the rice mill was completed in 1863 and soon thereafter occupied by Union soldiers during the American Civil War. West Point Mill was closed in 1920. Around 1925, the mill's steam engine was sold to the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. The mill's property was sold to the City of Charleston in 1926. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2017.
