Cape Girardeau, MO -Serena Hall Southeast Missouri State University

Serena Hall, completed in 1909 on the main campus of Southeat Missouri State University, was completed in 1906 in Cape Girardeau, a city of about 40,000 people on the Mississippi River. At the time of its opening, the university was a state “normal school” or college for teachers. Originally the University's manual training facility, the building was named after the school’s eighth president, Joseph A. Serena. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2020.
