Zenos Motel and Steakhouse, originally established by Zeno and Loretta Scheffer in 1956, was a
Route 66 fixture in
Rolla,
Missouri for more than 50 years. The complex included 50 guest rooms, an indoor and outdoor pool, banquet facilities, a lounge, and a restaurant. By the 21st century, competition was on the rise at the western end of Rolla as more restaurants and motels were established. This increased competition played a role in Zeno’s demise. It remained family-owned until it closed in October 2011. The buildings were razed in September 2012. It was located at 1621 Martin Springs Drive. Photo by
