The historic Shamrock Motor Court, still operating (as of 2020) in Springfield, Missouri, through which a portion of the historic two-lane U.S. Route 66 on which it sits still zigs and zag through town. Known as the “Mother Road,” Route 66 from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California, was the nation’s first all-paved long-distance highway.
