No name is posted any longer (as of 2020) on the 1929 Rock Fountain Court (later named the Melinda Court, after his daughter, by a new owner) in Springfield, Missouri, on a portion of the historic two-lane Route 66 that zigs and zags through town. Known as the “Mother Road,” Route 66 was the nation’s first all-paved long-distance highway. It got its name at a meeting of highway planners here in Springfield in 1926.
