Sign above the entrance to the Memphis Cotton Museum in Memphis, Tennessee's, Memphis Cotton Exchange Building, completed as the exchange's third headquarters in 1925, during what was, and continued to be, the Misssissippi River port city's pivotal role during the southern U.S. city's cotton-raising and trading heyday. The building's trading floor was remodeled to showcase the cotton industry that built a robust economy for the city. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2006.
