The Paramount Theatre in Amarillo, Texas was completed in 1932 just as the Depression was leaving its mark on Amarillo. It was the city' premier first-run theater for decades, but attendance declined when multiple screen theaters opened in the suburbs. It closed in the mid 1975 and the sign was removed in 1977. The sign was then featured at the Paramount Club, a popular disco in the 1980s. Today, the beautiful sign has been restored and reinstalled in its original location. Photo by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
