Central City, CO - Methodist Church

One of the oldest churches in Colorado, the St. James Methodist Church is still a functioning church. It was organized July 10-11, 1859, by two missionaries. For a while, services were held in Central City at the home of "Aunt" Clara Brown, a former slave. This building in was begun in 1864 during the pastorate of Reverend Bethuel T. Vincent; but it was not completed and dedicated until 1872. Photo by Kathy Weiser-Alexander.
