A street vendor awaits customers on Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street), the vibrant artery of Miami, Florida's historic Little Havana neighborhood. For years, the district was the nexus of the Cuban refugee community and the best, if not only, part of Greater Miami where one could find genuine Cuban food, music, cigars, art, and attire. However, as many in the community prospered and moved to fancier parts of town, the neighborhood took on more of a pan-Hispanic (especially Central American) character as well, though Cuban cultural icons remain.
