A three-building block in the small south-central New Mexico town of Carrizozo, population 1,000 or so (as of 2021). It is not inconceivable that the “Phone 60” notations on the right-side building’s facade dates to the days when telephones were hand-cranked and connected the caller to a switchboard operator or to the intended recipient, who had a similar telephone number of a few digits.
