The Coren Apartments building, which primarily housed teachers at the Carlisle Indian School, an Indian boarding and industrial school from 1879 through 1918, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The school — now called the “Carlisle Barracks” — controversially strove to immerse its students into mainstream Euro-American culture.
