The Bicentennial Tower at Dobbins Landing in Erie, Pennsylvania, the state’s fourth-largest city that does, indeed, lie on the banks of Lake Erie — one of the United States’ five “Great Lakes.” The observation tower, which offers panoramic views of Lake Erie, Presque Isle State Park, and downtown Erie, was built to signify the city's bicentennial year 1996. It is 187 feet tall and has two observation decks. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2019.
