Kirkwood, MO - National Museum of Transportation Museum
A 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible dominates the foreground in front of a more amazing display at the National Museum of Transportation Museum in Kirkwood, a southwestern suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. The private-42-acre museum, founded in 1944, restores, preserves, and displays classic automobiles, farm and road equipment, boats, and railroad equipment. Behind the car is the facade of a classic "no-tell" St. Louis motel, the Coral Court — once rented by the hour for cash. When the property closed in 1993, it was dismantled, brick by brick, moved to the transportation museum, and reassembled. Photo by Carol Highsmith, 2021.
