Marfa, TX -Old Bank Building
A onetime bank buiding -- now an architect's headquarters -- in Marfa, a surprising city in Presidio County, Texas. Surprising because, unlike most surrounding farming and ranching towns in the high desert of the Texas "Trans-Pecos" region, Marfa has cultivated a reputation as a sophisticated center of the arts and is home to several art galleries. It is a tourist destination and a recognized center for Minimalist art, not to mention the center of attention for its mysterious "Marfa lights" -- glowing, ghostly lights that appear, at least to some, outside of town.
