A half-scale partial reconstruction in Rolla, a small city in south-central Missouri, of the world-famous Stonehenge site, a mysterious circle of stones built beginning in 2800 B.C. by Neolithic people on the Salisbury Plains, 75 miles southwest of London, England. Called "Stubby Stonehenge" by the Roadside America online site, the Rolla was completed in 1984 at the former University of Missouri at Rolla Rock Mechanics and Explosives Research Center to demonstrate the carving capabilities of its High Pressure Water Jet Lab.
